Our Kids Yoga program, for 7-11 year olds, is designed to help support mind and body awareness and development. Yoga can benefit this specific age-group in many ways, including developing inner and outer strength, a sense of confidence and self-esteem, a deepened respect for self and others, and an overall sense of well-being.

GENTLE/RESTORATIVE TEACHER TRAINING with KELLY SOLLOWAY begins January 27th in Ramsey

The Gentle/Restorative training is open to both teachers who want to expand their knowledge and hone their teaching skills, and students who want to deepen their knowledge of the practice. The training will cover fundamental use of props, aligning and teaching restorative yoga postures and gentle posture sequencing in addition to meditation and pranayama practices, and yoga philosophy. Emphasis will be placed on bringing the asana practice to students who need a slower pace and proper support for the postures.

MONTHLY KUNDALINI CLASS with SONDRA STOWE Friday October 20th and 27th in Chestnut Ridge

Both of the classes in October will focus on the Second Chakra. On October 20th and 27th, we will do the Kriya for Pelvic Balance and the kriya originally taught by Yogi Bhajan as “Refining Sexuality and Spirituality”. Because these are short, but intense, kriyas, we will begin with a longer warm-up to warm and flex the spine.

As always, try to finish eating an hour to an hour and a half before class and bring water!

The stress of everyday living could be a very challenging time for a teenager. Through yoga, we learn to coordinate the breath with our postures, which helps calm the mind, release tension and sharpen the memory. Yoga also increases flexibility, tones the body and teaches us to make healthy choices in life.
